Legislative Framework

The legislative framework governing the legal profession (international services) regime includes the following:

• Legal Profession Act (Chapter 161)
• Legal Profession Rules
• Legal Profession (International Services) Rules 2008
• Legal Profession (Modified Application of Act for International Services) Rules 2008
• Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules
• Legal Profession (Practice Training Period) Rules 2009
• Section 4(1)(g) of the Business Registration Act (Chapter 32), which exempts from application of the Act, any person carrying on any business consisting solely of the exercise of any profession which under the provisions of any written law can be exercised only by those who possess certain qualifications prescribed by the written law and whose names are registered or otherwise recorded in the manner prescribed by any written law.
