Role of Legal Profession Secretariat
The Legal Profession (International Services) Secretariat was established in May 2000 with a primary focus on the registration, licensing and regulation of foreign lawyers and foreign law practices in Singapore. The unit was renamed the Legal Profession Secretariat (LPS) in January 2009 and its duties have expanded to include matters involving the Singapore legal profession where the Attorney-General has a role.
The LPS is responsible for all matters pertaining to the development of the Singapore legal services sector at the domestic and international level that involve the Attorney-General.
